Here at VS Jewellery School, our focus is on creativity, imagination and vision. We are a school that can teach you all the techniques, tips and tricks of jewellery making while helping you reach your full creative potential. However, there are times in all of our lives where mind block kicks in and all creative inspiration seems lost. To help you fight that mind block, here is a countdown of our top five places to find creative inspiration in London:

5) Museums

– London is packed with museums so if you want inspiration, why not discover some culture and history at the same time? The Victoria and Albert Museum is a fantastic building, particularly if you’re an art enthusiast. You can find inspiration in the ancient jewellery collections and sculptures, taking shapes and patterns from them that could be worked into your own designs.

4) Apple Market, Covent Garden

What better way to be inspired than by other creators? Seeing other designers/artists successfully showcasing and selling their work is bound to inspire you. Exploring markets also lets you see the different ways artists are approaching their designs. This lets you see what’s already out there, and how you can make your design/product unique. Apple Market, for example, is a cute little arts market in Covent Garden. Look out for jewellery, paintings, clothes and more!

3) The Library

Libraries – such as The British Library – are amazing places to find your inspiration. Not only are there thousands of jewellery/art books, journals and articles at your fingertips, but there’s also nothing to distract you from focusing on your work. A free British Library card gives you access to the Reading Rooms, where seeing other people hard at work is bound to help you overcome your mind block! Not to mention, you’ll be working away in an amazing building!

2) Coffee Shops

Coffee shops are not only a relaxing environment that give you the creative space to work on your projects, but coffee shops around London also get more unique and vibrant by the day. For example, Drink Shop & Do in King’s Cross is a café by day and bar by night. But the best part about this coffee shop is that it offers activities and workshops. These include book binding, DIY Radio workshop and calligraphy, to name a few. The workshops will help get your creativity flowing again, offer up a dose of inspiration, and will have you over your creative slump in no time!

1) Walks

Take in the fresh air and clear your mind in parts of the city that don’t feel like the city. Places like Regent’s Park and Hampstead Heath let you take a break from the hustle and bustle of London life, explore, and free your mind. Experiencing nature is a great way to deal with mind block, so with flowers in the Rose Garden to ponds and wildlife, parks are a great place to unwind and find your creativity again. If you’re willing to travel further out of London, Epping Forrest is also a calming, scenic environment that gives you a breather from city life.
